Invite a client to complete Quick Assessment or Profile

How to invite a client to complete their own profile and share data.

In LumaTax, you can invite clients to input their own information - either a Quick Assessment or a Full Profile. 

If you prefer, you can complete either yourself. This article explains how to invite a client to enter their own information. 

Note: Inviting a client into LumaTax will not allow them to complete the entire LumaTax workflow on their own. For more information, visit What can my client do and not do in LumaTax?
Note: Quick Assessments do not count against your billing thresholds unless you upload data and complete a Nexus Analysis Report. You can invite and assess unlimited clients.

Invite Your Client to Complete a LumaTax Quick Assessment

The LumaTax Quick Assessment helps you estimate a taxpayer’s risk of sales tax non-compliance in 3 mins or less. It's the best choice when you are unsure if a client needs a complete nexus analysis. The client will not have to create an account. 

Your firm has your own custom link to share the assessment with clients and prospects. 

  1. From the Practice Summary Dashboard, click Add Client in the upper right corner. 
  2. On the left hand side, you’ll find the Quick Assessment. Click Ask Your Client to Complete
  3. A pop up box will appear. Copy the url by clicking the box in the center. This link is unique to your firm. Paste into an email or other communication to share the link with clients and prospects. 
  4. When done, you can close the window or go back to the home page. 

Invite Your Client to Complete a Full Profile (Client Connect)

The full profile is best when you already know a client is in need of a nexus analysis and a quick assessment is not needed. It's also the best choice when you'd like your clients to create an account and be able to upload data files or documents via the LumaTax portal.

  1. From the Practice Summary Dashboard, click Add Client in the upper right corner. 
  2. On the right hand side, you’ll find the Full Profile. Click Ask Your Client to Complete
  3. A pop up box will appear. Copy the url by clicking the box in the center. This link is unique to your firm. Paste into an email or other communication to share the link with clients and prospects. 
  4. When done, you can close the window or go back to the home page. 

Example email template:

Hi [Client name], 
Our firm uses LumaTax to securely collect information to determine your sales tax compliance score and perform a detailed state-by-state nexus analysis if needed. Please use this link to create an account and complete a brief survey about your business. You will also have the option to upload transaction data and documents to us using this account.
[Insert Link]

Don’t see your firm’s logo on the assessment page? Navigate to Hi, [Name] and select Profile. From there, you can add your firm’s company logo. This will display on the Quick Assessment, Full Profile, and any reports you prepare.
